Comprehensive chimney care for your home's safety and efficiency

Local Chimney Sweep And Cleaning

Creosote builds up every time you burn wood - and it's the #1 cause of chimney fires. We clean the full flue system from top to firebox, removing soot, glazed creosote, and blockages so your chimney draws properly and your family stays safe.

Chimney Inspection

Level 1, 2, or 3 - we match the inspection to the situation. Buying a home? Level 2 with video. Annual checkup? Level 1 covers it. We document everything with photos and give you a clear report, not a sales pitch.

Chimney Repair

Cracked crowns, crumbling mortar joints, damaged flue tiles - we fix what's broken before it becomes a bigger problem. Most repairs take a day or less, and we'll show you exactly what needs work before we start.

Chimney Cap Installation

A chimney without a cap is an open invitation for rain, raccoons, and downdrafts. We install stainless steel and copper caps with built-in spark arrestors, custom-sized to fit your flue opening exactly.

Chimney Liner

Older chimneys often have cracked clay tiles or no liner at all - both are fire hazards. We install stainless steel and cast-in-place liners that meet current code and actually improve your draft.

Chimney Masonry Repair

Brick and mortar don't last forever, especially in humid climates. We repoint deteriorated joints, replace spalled bricks, and match existing materials so the repair blends in. Catches water problems before they reach your interior walls.

Chimney Flashing Repair

That dark stain on your ceiling near the chimney? Probably failed flashing. We remove the old material, install new step and counter flashing, and seal everything properly. Stops leaks at the source.

Chimney Rebuilds

When repair isn't enough, we rebuild. From the roofline up or from the foundation - depends on how far the damage goes. New masonry, new liner, new cap, new flashing. Done right so you won't need us again for decades.

Chimney Animal Removal

Scratching sounds? Foul smell? Birds, squirrels, and raccoons love chimneys. We remove them humanely, clear out nesting material, and cap the flue so they can't get back in.

Fireplace Cleaning

Ash piling up in the firebox, soot on the damper, smoke stains on the surround - we clean it all. Includes the firebox, smoke shelf, and damper assembly. Your fireplace will look and work like it should.

Chimney Fireplace Repair

Smoke pouring into the room instead of going up? Damper stuck? Cracked smoke chamber? We diagnose the actual problem - not guess - and fix it. Most fireplace issues are straightforward once you know where to look.

Firebox Repair

Cracked firebricks and deteriorated refractory panels are more than cosmetic - they let heat reach combustible framing behind the wall. We replace damaged bricks and mortar with proper heat-rated materials.

Gas Fireplace Cleaning

Gas fireplaces still need annual service. Dust coats the burner and logs, the pilot assembly corrodes, and the glass fogs up. We clean the full unit - burner, pilot, glass, and venting - so it runs clean and stays under warranty.

Gas Fireplace Repair

Pilot won't stay lit? No heat? Remote stopped working? We troubleshoot gas fireplace issues from thermocouples to valve assemblies. Certified on all major brands - Heatilator, Lennox, Napoleon, Majestic, and more.

Wood Stove Repair

Door gaskets wear out, baffles warp, glass cracks. We service all wood stove brands - replace worn parts, adjust the door seal, and make sure your stove drafts correctly. Gets your heat output back where it should be.

Pellet Stove Repair

Auger jams, igniter failures, control board errors - pellet stoves have more moving parts than most people realize. We diagnose and repair the issue, clean the exhaust path, and get your stove feeding and burning properly again.

Duct Cleaning

Your HVAC pushes air through every duct in the house - along with whatever's living in them. Dust, pet dander, mold spores, construction debris. We clean the full system and you'll notice the difference in air quality immediately.

Dryer Duct Cleaning

Lint in your dryer vent is a fire waiting to happen - it's one of the top causes of house fires nationally. We clean the full run from the dryer to the exterior vent. Clothes dry faster, energy bill drops, fire risk gone.

Commercial Air Duct Cleaning

Restaurants, offices, multi-unit buildings - commercial ductwork collects grease, dust, and allergens at scale. We schedule after hours to keep your business running and bring your system up to health code standards.

Chimney Cap Installation

December 7, 2025 Historic
Problem

The existing chase cap and top flashing exhibited heavy surface rust and localized corrosion, producing rust streaks that stained the wood trim and shingles below. Paint was peeling and metal deterioration at a corner joint allowed potential water intrusion; the chimney crown and upper bricks were partially loose with exposed clay flue tile, creating a risk of accelerated wood rot and further masonry failure.

Solution

Removed the deteriorated chase cap and corroded flashing, dismantled loose bricks and cleaned out failing mortar and debris at the chimney top. Installed a new pyramid-style screened metal chimney cap and stainless storm collar, fitted a new metal chase cover and stainless fasteners, replaced step and base flashing, applied black sealant where flashing meets masonry and a fresh gray parge around the crown to restore the roof intersection.

The new corrosion-resistant cap, chase cover and sealed flashing eliminate entry points for water and animals and greatly reduce staining; the chimney top is stabilized and ready for any remaining crown/masonry rebuild. Customer now has a watertight, code-compliant cap installation that improves long-term protection.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions from Seaford

How much does a chimney sweep cost in Seaford, VA, and what local factors affect that price? LOCAL

+

In Seaford, VA, the cost for a standard Level 1 chimney inspection and cleaning generally falls between $195 and $375. Local factors can heavily influence this pricing. The humid conditions along our coastal region often lead to quicker creosote accumulation, demanding more thorough cleaning. For instance, an older home with an unlined masonry flue may require specialized work, which can extend the time needed. We follow NFPA 211 standards to ensure a safe and comprehensive service. After evaluating your chimney system, we'll provide an upfront estimate, so you know what to expect financially before we begin.

With Seaford's humid, coastal climate, how often do I really need my chimney inspected and swept? LOCAL

+

In Seaford's humid climate, it’s crucial to have your chimney inspected and swept annually, regardless of how often you use your fireplace. Moisture from our coastal environment can degrade chimney materials and facilitate hazardous creosote buildup, making annual checks even more important. The NFPA recommends this yearly examination, especially for those in our area. Catching issues early, like storm debris or wildlife nests, can prevent costly repairs and safety hazards later. Think of these inspections as preventive maintenance to ensure your home remains safe and sound through our variable seasons.

Living in Seaford, when is the best time of year to schedule my chimney sweep, considering the coastal Virginia weather and hurricane season? LOCAL

+

The optimal time to schedule your chimney sweep in Seaford is during the late spring or summer months. Waiting until fall can lead to long wait times due to the rush of homeowners preparing for colder weather. By planning ahead, you gain flexibility and avoid the hassle of last-minute appointments. Additionally, cleaning creosote before our humid summer can help prevent deterioration of your chimney during those damp months. This proactive approach also guarantees that your chimney cap and flashing are ready for the heavy rains commonly associated with hurricane season, keeping your home safe long before you need to light a fire.

Living in Seaford, VA, how often should I really have my chimney inspected for safety, and are there any specific local concerns? LOCAL

+

For homeowners in Seaford, an annual chimney inspection is essential for safety. The NFPA guidelines suggest a yearly check for all chimneys, which is particularly relevant given our humid coastal conditions. Salt air and moisture can significantly erode mortar joints and flashing, leading to potential leaks and structural damage over time. Annual inspections help catch these issues before they escalate, ensuring your chimney is free from flammable creosote and other hazards. This small commitment can yield significant peace of mind, allowing you to enjoy your fireplace safely through all seasons.

I live in Seaford. Do I need a permit from York County to install a new wood stove or reline my chimney? LOCAL

+

Yes, in Seaford, obtaining a permit from York County is typically required for installing new heating appliances like wood stoves or for relining chimneys. This is outlined in the Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code, which emphasizes safety standards to mitigate fire risks and ensure proper ventilation. Securing a permit not only fulfills legal obligations but also protects your family's safety and your home's value. While we'll manage the installation to comply with all codes, you’ll need to get the permit from the county, and we can assist you with the necessary documentation for a smooth process.
